Fortnight

A summary of the past two weeks in the office...

Bruce and I were elected to the Mass Rec & Park Association (MRPA) Executive Board! Bruce will serve as Vice President and I will be Professional Development Chair. Beverly didn’t stack the awards in our favor, members voted and we earned it all on our own! Gail made a crazy cake to celebrate!

Gail suggested to Jean that she make the Greek lasagne in the latest edition of Women’s World. Last week Jean made a delicious dish with beef, broccoli, peas and soy sauce that her family loved.

Jay Comeau visited last week, looking very intimidating and warm on his way to his security guard job. He was amazed with our new shredder, Bruce’s relatively clean office and the progress that is being made on the Carriage House. He confirmed that he will not be returning as HRMC, but he offered his shrewd decision making skills to help us find his replacement. We already have a few ideas…

Got a postcard from our favorite Mzungu. We were shocked to find out that Heather was homeless for a few days, but excited to know that her training at Adventure Camp overnights has helped her cook without an oven! Can’t wait to see her again after the World Cup in June. Send her a postcard at P.O. Box 1646, Arusha, Tanzania.

The staff agrees that texting can be rude. Pick up the phone!

We are considering putting pics of Bruce as the wallpaper on all of our computers.

We received an awesome letter from a park and camp parent who remarked that the best thing about our “innovative and fun” programs is that they “have been lead and staffed by thoughtful, energetic and creative people who have served as great role models… camp counselors and park instructors…have the most impact, showing leadership, responsibility and dedication for all participants to emulate.” WOW. Bravo to all summer staff!!

That reminds me, thanks to Tim McAuliffe, Will McAuliffe, Skev and Joclyn Belanger for working at camp fairs last weekend. Camp registration is tomorrow and applications have been streaming in. You have something to do with that.

The Skev Report - Skev visited a few times over the past two weeks and, as he is so fond of saying, “let’s put it this way”, it was awesome. He serenaded us with karaoke tunes of our choosing and told us tales of New Hampshire, cougars and designated driving. We are looking forward to hearing more about Skev’s trip to Foxwoods and whether he left up or down and how much? What do you think?
